NOFD Superintendent Named 'Fire
Chief of the Year'
NEW ORLEANS
- New Orleans Fire Department Superintendent of Fire, Charles
Parent, has been awarded Louisiana "Fire Chief of the Year."
This award is the most important honor the Louisiana fire
service can bestow upon one its chief fire officers to recognize
truly outstanding fire chiefs whose acts and deeds in their
departments, home, community, state and country, serve as an
example and challenge for all other fire chiefs throughout
Louisiana .
The selection
criteria emphasized leadership, innovation, professional
development, integrity, and service to the public and
contributions to the fire service as a whole. "Chief Parent was
selected for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the
citizens of New Orleans ," said State Fire Marshal H. Butch"
Browning, Jr.
"His perseverance and undying compassion and commitment during
the largest natural disaster in this nation's history combined
with the relentless determination he has shown during the
rebuilding and rebirth of the city and the New Orleans Fire
Department made him the recognition committee's obvious choice
for this prestigious award," said Browning.
